GOLF COURSE HISTORY
Babe Ruth and friends ~ Circa 1920's

Lake Worth Golf Course was approved by the City Commission in 1924. The golf course opened in 1925. This photograph shows Babe Ruth who frequently played at the golf course during Spring Training and during the off- season. Originally only 9 holes in 1945, the Golf Commission agreed to expand the course to 18 holes. Dick Wilson, the course architect, redesigned the existing nine holes and added an additional nine holes. In the fall of 1948, Lake Worth Golf's new 18 hole course was opened for play.  A new clubhouse and Pro Shop were constructed and opened for business in the fall of 2001.
